TORONTO, ON — Bird Canada, the nation’s leading micromobility company and the only Canadian-owned and operated shared micromobility provider, closed out 2025 with a record-breaking year of growth, delivering more than 1.75 million rides and enabling over 3.5 million kilometres of sustainable travel across the country.
“This was a defining year for Bird Canada,” said Stewart Lyons, CEO of Bird Canada. “Our expansion across the country shows what’s possible when micromobility is built locally, operated responsibly, and aligned with the needs of cities and communities.”
In 2025, Bird Canada became a truly national operator with its expansion into Atlantic Canada, launching service in Halifax. In just five months, Halifax grew into Bird Canada’s second-largest market nationwide, highlighting strong demand for accessible and flexible transportation options.
“As a Canadian-owned and operated company, our growth has been driven by deep local knowledge and strong partnerships with the cities we serve,” said Pat Graham, General Manager of Bird Canada. “That approach has allowed us to expand into the only truly coast-to-coast micromobility operator in Canada—and the largest—delivering programs that reflect the unique needs of communities from Halifax to Surrey.

Ontario Growth and Community Impact
Bird Canada continued to expand across Ontario in 2025, launching new programs in Pickering and Vaughan, and relaunching service in Oshawa as the city’s exclusive operator. The company now operates in nine Ontario cities, including Hamilton, Windsor, Ottawa, Mississauga, Tecumseh and Brampton.
Ontario riders took more than 500,000 trips this year. Bird Canada also strengthened its community impact through initiatives such as a partnership with Food Banks Mississauga, donating $1 from every ride during Thanksgiving to support local food security.
Hamilton experienced a standout year, with residents riding the equivalent of circling the earth 10 times and helping prevent more than 30 tonnes of CO₂ emissions from entering the atmosphere.

Continued Success Out West
Bird Canada expanded further west in 2025, launching new operations in Stony Plain and Vernon, and winning the exclusive operating permit for Kamloops, launching in 2026. All while deepening partnerships with community organizations across British Columbia, Alberta, and Saskatchewan. The company also introduced a new partnership with MODO Co-operative, supporting a more integrated, multimodal transportation ecosystem in British Columbia.
Community impact remained a core focus in Alberta, where Bird Canada partnered with United Way Calgary for United Way Day where a portion of each rider’s fee generated donations to support local social programs. Bird Canada also proudly partnered with Calgary Pride, participating in the Pride Day Parade and reaffirming its commitment to inclusive, welcoming cities.
“None of this growth happens without our team on the ground,” added Lyons. “Their commitment to safety, service, and community is what continues to set Bird Canada apart.”
As Bird Canada looks ahead, the company is planning to accelerate growth in 2026, with more new cities coming online and a continued focus on delivering shared, equitable, and sustainable transportation—connecting communities from coast to coast and supporting a healthier, more mobile Canada.
