Travis VanderZanden

Founder & CEO

Travis is the Founder and CEO of Bird. His lifelong admiration of his mother, who drove a public bus for over 30 years, inspired him to revolutionize last-mile transportation. Travis has always been at the forefront of innovative transportation solutions, having served as Chief Operating Officer of Lyft and Vice President at Uber. He also founded Cherry, an on-demand car washing company, that was acquired by Lyft, and was Chief Revenue Officer at Yammer, which was acquired by Microsoft.

SVP, Global Communications & Public Affairs

Rebecca is the Senior Vice President of Communications & Public Affairs at Bird. She directs all of our national and global communications and marketing efforts. A storyteller at heart, Rebecca believes her most important responsibility is helping tell the story of Bird. As a Southern California native, Rebecca has spent far too many hours stuck in gridlock traffic surrounded by growing carbon emissions. She is passionate about Bird’s ability to improve the lives and futures of her family, her friends, and her community.

Stephen Schnell

Chief Operating Officer

Stephen is the Chief Operating Officer at Bird. He forged a successful career in marketing by directing ad campaigns for national brands. In 2010, he became the Head of Marketing at Yammer. After Yammer, Stephen worked as the Senior Director of Operations at Cherry until Lyft acquired it. Then, he served as Lyft’s Vice President of Operations. In 2014, Stephen joined Uber as the Head of Operations for Canada and the United States. After his time at Uber, Stephen decided to bring his talents to Venice, CA. Now, he works vigorously to make Bird the global leader of dockless electric vehicles.

Director, Talent

Taylor is the Director of People at Bird. She creates a positive vibe and the foundation of Bird’s people ethos. Taylor has shaped the culture of many tech companies in Los Angeles and San Francisco. Taylor Birds to work every day, and to the Santa Monica beach every weekend because she believes a swim in the ocean is the cure for everything — a prescription she follows as often as she can.

EVP, Vehicles

Scott is the Executive Vice President of Vehicles at Bird. He oversees everything related to the Bird vehicle. Before coming to Bird, Scott did technical consulting on cloud operations as well as hardware consulting for Fortune 500 companies and major tech companies. Scott Birds throughout his week, taking his rides to go meet with friends, run errands, and get outdoors.

VP, Business

Chase is the Vice President of Business at Bird. He leads our business development, corporate development, and finance teams. Outside of Bird, he serves on the Board of Directors for ipsy, the leading online beauty subscription community. Chase is a Southern California native, and he received his bachelors in Economics from the University of California, Berkeley.

Taylor Rose

Justin is the Chief Technology Officer of Engineering at Bird. He leads the team responsible for the technology that powers our vehicles. Justin helped build the first version of the Bird smartphone app. Justin is an Albuquerque native and alumni of the Adaptive Computation group at the University of New Mexico.

Chief Legal Officer

David is the Chief Legal Officer of Bird, where he oversees the company’s government relations, regulatory compliance, and legal affairs. Before joining Bird, he was Vice President of Government Relations at Lyft, where he worked with cities to bring car ride-sharing to communities. As a leading expert in transportation policy, he also established the regulatory framework for Transportation Network Companies. Before that, David was the Legal Director for Google X, where he pioneered state laws and regulations governing autonomous vehicles, Google Glass, and drone delivery. Most recently, he was the Chief Legal Officer and Head of Public Policy at Kitty Hawk Corporation.

Ryan is the Vice President of Product & Compliance at Bird. He builds an amazing experience for our riders, chargers, and mechanics. Before joining Bird, Ryan led the Product Team at Lyft. There, he built the rider and driver experience. After his time at Lyft, Ryan joined Uber, and led product as part of the Driver Growth team. He was responsible for acquiring and onboarding all drivers and delivery partners globally. Ryan grew up in the Los Angeles and is passionate about sustainable transportation and green energy. When he’s not working, he loves spending time with his two baby boys.
