Bird Partners with EDP to Further Sustainable Mobility in Portugal

We all have to work together to decarbonize the planet.

This truth, embedded in Bird’s mission, is why we’re excited to be partnering with EDP, one of Portugal’s leading energy providers, to increase access to sustainable mobility. The collaboration gives eligible EDP customers access to free, emission free scooter rides and furthers Bird’s commitment to strategic partnerships with electricity providers around the world.

“Clean, safe, electric transportation is key to a healthier planet,” Pedro Galvão Pires at EDP Comercial . “Our partnership with Bird is a part of our ongoing commitment to supporting electric mobility and helping lead the way on the road to sustainable change.”

So far the program has been a resounding success, with hundreds of thousands of clicks and thousands of new sign ups making this one of the highest engagement rates EDP has seen for this type of campaign. Additionally, these new riders have continued using Birds at a higher-than-average conversion rate. This is an important step in creating modeshift habits that will help lower automobile emissions in cities across Portugal.

The initiative comes on the heels of another recent collaboration between Bird and a nation’s leading energy supplier. In Hungary, Bird is working with MVM and our local partner Fly to provide access to sustainable mobility in the capital city of Budapest.

“As mobility needs around the country evolve, MVM is growing to meet them,” said Zsolt BERTALAN, Chief Technology Innovation Officer of MVM Group. “By partnering with Bird and Fly, we’re able to support a micromobility ecosystem that is beginning to thrive in Budapest and perhaps even in more cities throughout Hungary.”
