Bird is expanding its presence in Bordeaux with the addition of electric bikes to our French fleet — and we’re taking a step further by integrating with V3, Bordeaux’s established bikeshare network.
The launch marks a meaningful evolution in how Bird operates in France: not just as a standalone e-scooter operator, but as a genuine partner in the city’s broader multimodal transportation ecosystem.
E-Bikes in Bordeaux
Bordeaux is one of France’s most bike-friendly cities, with an extensive network of cycling infrastructure and a culture of active transportation. Adding e-bikes to our fleet is a natural fit — they allow riders to cover greater distances with less effort, making cycling accessible to a wider range of people including those who might find traditional cycling too demanding.
Bird’s e-bikes are designed for urban use: lightweight, durable, and equipped with the same intuitive unlock experience riders expect from our scooters.
The V3 Integration
V3 is Bordeaux’s long-running public bikeshare system, operated in partnership with the metropolitan transport authority. Our integration connects Bird’s app and fleet management systems with V3’s infrastructure, giving riders a more unified experience across both platforms.
For the city, the integration supports Bordeaux Métropole’s goal of building a seamless, low-emission transport network where switching between modes — bus, tram, bike, scooter — is as frictionless as possible.
France as a Strategic Market
France has been one of Bird’s most important European markets. Bordeaux joins Paris, Lyon, and other French cities where Bird operates, and the Bordeaux launch reflects our conviction that sustainable urban mobility requires deep local partnerships, not just vehicle deployments.
We’re grateful to the city of Bordeaux and Bordeaux Métropole for their collaboration and look forward to serving riders across the region.
