Bird’s First Bikeshare Integration of 2022 Is a Major European Capital

Bird’s multimodal transportation offering in Europe just got stronger.

Today we’re proud to launch our integration with Gira public bikeshare in Lisbon, the first Bird smart bikeshare integration of 2022.

As part of this unique multimodal program, Bird riders in the Portuguese capital can now see and access Gira bikes directly from the Bird app. Gira stations and the number of available bikes at each will be clearly visible alongside Bird scooters, helping promote even more sustainable, affordable transportation in the city.

“We’re honored to team with Gira on this initiative that will increase access to clean transportation alternatives in Lisbon,” said Brian Buccella, Bird’s Senior Vice President of Government Partnerships and Consumer Products. “Portugal is quickly becoming a leader in sustainable transportation in Europe, and Bird is dedicated to helping this progress continue through strong local partnerships, service expansions and our most innovative technologies.”

To access Gira bikes from the Bird app, riders can simply tap the green bike icon. This will immediately connect them to Gira where rentals can be started in just a matter of moments.

Lisbon joins a growing list of cities across Europe that offer local bike and e-moped integrations directly from the Bird app, including Oslo, Rome, Florence, Bordeaux and Tbilisi, not to mention a growing number of cities in the US.
