Bird and Jelbi Integrate to Increase E-Mobility Access in Berlin

Multimodal transportation is the key to truly connected cities.

This fundamental belief is at the heart of Bird’s integration with Berlin mobility app Jelbi. Operated by Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe (BVG), the city’s own public transport company, Jelbi brings together various transportation options in the German capital from trains and buses to bikes and, now, Bird scooters.

With our fleet of eco-conscious Bird Three scooters, Jelbi riders in Berlin can access even more micro-electric mobility covering a service area of 190 square kilometers. That means more clean transportation alternatives for riders in localities as far west as Staaken, as far south as Steglitz or as far east as Marzahn.

The full integration between Bird and Jelbi means that Berliners can locate, unlock and pay for a trip on a Bird scooter directly from the Jelbi app.

“Bird’s mission to increase clean micro-electric mobility access for everyone in Germany means working hand in hand with the best local transportation partners,” said Renaud Fages, Chief Mobility Officer at Bird. “Our collaboration with Jelbi is another significant step towards that goal, and we look forward to being able to serve even more riders throughout Berlin thanks to this integration.”

Bird’s Growing Impact in Germany and Across Europe

Bird’s integration with Jelbi comes just weeks after our Bird One scooters passed 10 million kilometers traveled since launching in Germany in 2020.

That’s far enough to have helped avoid nearly 400 metric tons of CO2 emissions from gas-powered cars (using conservative modeshift estimates to avoid greenwashing).

Beyond the borders of Germany, our recent integration with Gira public bikeshare in Lisbon helped dramatically expand our Smart Bikeshare Program in EMEA. This exclusive Bird program allows for multimodal integrations with local bike and e-moped sharing services to better serve the mobility needs of all riders in our 400+ partner cities around the world.
