Smart micromobility systems are all about finding solutions.
The first few months of the year saw scooter demand in the UK rise sharply, driven in part by a steep rise in petrol prices. In Bird’s partner city of Canterbury, for example, ridership in early March, 2022 was up 400% vs. the same period last year.
To help meet this demand and make it easier for people to switch to micro-electric mobility, Bird is taking action in the UK.
For starters, we’re extending our Free Rides for NHS Staff, part of our global Free Rides for Healthcare Workers program. Eligible riders can sign up by emailing a copy of their NHS identification card along with their name and phone number to together@bird.co.
Once verified, NHS staff members will receive two free 30-minute rides per day.
This week we’re also rolling out our newest, most advanced scooters in the UK: Bird Three. Beginning in the town of Redditch, Bird Threes will introduce UK riders to an exclusive suite of new features and technology designed to make micromobility smarter and safer for all members of the community.
Extending Micro-Electric Mobility Access Across the UK
The launch of our Bird Three scooters and extension of our Free Rides for NHS Staff program come on the heels of several recent notable developments helping to improve micro-electric mobility access for riders across the UK.
Last week, Bird scooter permits in Canterbury and Redditch were extended through November, 2022, and earlier this month we announced our official Bird Bike launch in the UK together with storied national retailer Halfords.
