The micromobility leader has partnered with French green energy supplier ekWateur to further its commitment to combating climate change in Paris!
Paris, February 25th, 2020 – To go further in its commitment to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, Bird, the global leader in micro-mobility, has partnered with ekWateur, the leading independent green energy supplier in France, to provide energy to its service centers in Marseille and Lyon and to offset its consumption in Paris. The company has also made a commitment to source electricity only from small French green energy producers.
For each kWh consumed, Bird will finance select green energy producers in France through the Guarantees of Origin mechanism. The Marseille and Lyon sites already go a step further in tracing their consumed electricity by directly choosing their small producers.
Bird is revolutionizing urban mobility by offering an environmentally friendly means of transportation with the main objective of combating climate change and making cities more livable. The company recently joined forces with Carbone 4 to define an action plan to promote carbon neutrality in Paris.
Electric scooters – including fleet management and associated operations – require a significant amount of electricity. That’s why Bird has teamed up with ekWateur to supply green energy to its service centers in Marseille and Lyon where its electric vehicles are charged daily (scooters, utility vehicles, cargo bikes).
In addition, Bird’s partnership with ekWateur means that the company’s large service center in Gennevilliers, near Paris, will work to offset all of the electricity it consumes by purchasing Guarantees of Origin from small independent French energy producers. In this way, ekWateur is contributing to remunerating small French companies producing electricity from “small hydraulic” power plants whose power is less than 10MW.

Special ekWateur offers for Bird users and partners
In order to promote the consumption of renewable energy among its users and partners, Bird has negotiated a special offer in collaboration with ekWateur. The green energy company is offering 150kWh of renewable energy to all Bird users who register with ekWateur. That’s the equivalent of one year of free, sustainable washing machine use.
Bird is also offering a preferential ekWateur deal to its partners so that they can take action to protect the environment by choosing green energy.
