Bird Hires Two Senior Uber Executives

Dennis Cinelli and Yibo Ling Join to Further Bird Mission

Venice, Calif. (October 11, 2018) – Today, Bird, the leader in Rideshare 2.0, announced former Uber executives Dennis Cinelli and Yibo Ling have joined Bird reporting to Bird Founder and CEO Travis VanderZanden. Cinelli will serve as Vice President and Head of Finance. Ling joins as a Vice President of Corporate Development and will also lead Bird’s China team.

“As Bird enters its second year, we’re continuing to expand our talented executive team to build on and scale our momentum,” said Travis VanderZanden, Bird Founder and CEO. “Dennis and Yibo both bring valuable experience expanding markets and I look forward to working with them closely as we continue on our mission.”

Joining a team of industry veterans, Cinelli and Ling bring years of experience in scaling business operations. Cinelli most recently served as the Head of Finance, Global Rides at Uber, where he helped build and lead the finance team responsible for Uber’s global rides operations. Prior to Uber, Cinelli spent 11 years in finance roles at General Electric, working across sectors ranging from entertainment to lighting to transportation.

“Coming from Rideshare 1.0, I see how Bird has truly taken the transportation space to the next level by pioneering Rideshare 2.0 and solving many transportation problems, particularly traffic and congestion,” Cinelli said. “I look forward to building a word-class finance team to help Bird bring its affordable, last-mile transportation option to cities around the world.”

Ling spent the last four years at Uber as the Director of Corporate Development, managing corporate strategy, mergers and acquisitions, and the company’s expansion to China. Before Uber, Ling worked as a project leader at the Boston Consulting Group, where he helped technology and financial services clients operate more efficiently.

“Bird’s rapid growth and its ability to provide 10 million rides in just one year’s time shows how big the market is for environmentally friendly transportation,” Ling said. “This level of energy around a company is rare, and I am excited to help it scale from here.”
