Employer-subsidized e-scooter rides are one of the most powerful tools for encouraging modeshift away from cars—and today, Bird is thrilled to bring such a program to France in partnership with the French green-mobility company Betterway.
Employees of organizations nationwide who subscribe to the French government’s Forfait Mobilités Durables, or Sustainable Mobility Package, will now be eligible to receive up to 500€ of annual subsidized rides on Bird’s award-winning e-scooters. Riders can take advantage of this discount simply by using their Betterway card to pay for their Bird trips to and from work.
“We’re incredibly proud to partner with Betterway on this valuable initiative to reduce congestion and increase sustainable mobility use in France,” said Rebecca Hahn, Chief Corporate Social Responsibility Officer at Bird. “The Forfait Mobilités Durables, which was created by the French government after the first national lockdown in May, 2020, is an excellent program designed to encourage modeshift away from cars. We believe that Bird scooters will be a valuable addition to riders’ daily commutes and hope that the discounts made available through our partnership with Betterway will enable more people around the country to experience the benefits of micromobility.”
In addition to the 500€ of annual subsidized rides on Bird e-scooters, Betterway card holders will also benefit from a 10% discount on their commutes with Bird (120 trips per trimester, equivalent to 5 round trip commutes per week). This additional benefit is due to Bird’s participation in Betterway’s Partners’ Club program.
“We’re delighted to count Bird among the members of our Club des Partenaires,” said Alain Mady-Fetherstone, Co-Founder and COO of Betterway. “This will permit Bird to distinguish themselves from among the 5,000 merchants who are eligible for the Betterway card, offering even more value for employees and employers alike.”
Our partnership with Betterway is the most recent in a string of collaborations with local organizations in France to help benefit micromobility throughout the country. Last month, Bird was proud to announce our association with the Junior-Entreprise of Sciences Po Bordeaux to improve e-scooter operations in the historic French city.
