Bird and Martha’s Table: Using Micromobility to Strengthen Communities

Taking action to support strong children, strong families and strong communities.

That’s the promise behind the Martha’s Table charity and volunteer center, and it’s one that the team at Bird could not be prouder to support.

We’ve partnered with the Washington, D.C.-based nonprofit this Giving Tuesday to put micromobility to work strengthening our local communities. On Tuesday, December 1st, we’re donating 10% of all local ride revenue to Martha’s Table and inviting our riders to actively get involved as well.

The donations will be used to help deliver healthy groceries to up to 10,000 residents each week, provide direct cash assistance and at-home learning for 100+ families and supply 230 meals every night to neighbors experiencing hunger or housing instability.

“We’re thrilled to partner with Bird for this campaign,” said Kim R. Ford, President & CEO, Martha’s Table. “This Giving Tuesday, 10% of every Bird ride will directly support our food operations, ensuring every Washingtonian has access to essential healthy groceries and dry goods. Thank you to Bird and their ridership for choosing to stand alongside Martha’s Table.”

Community plays a central role in Bird’s mission to help make cities more equitable, more sustainable and more livable. In October, our extended Community Pricing Program offered 50% discounts to low income riders, Pell grant recipients, select local nonprofit and community organizations, veterans and senior citizens. It’s designed to be the most inclusive micromobility discount program available anywhere.
