Bird to Open Paris-based France Hub; Commits to creating a Thousand Permanent Jobs

Paris, July 11th 2019. Building on its commitment to partnering with cities, Bird, France’s leading micro-mobility company, today announced it plans to open its largest European hub in Paris.

Bird’s Paris office will become another European hub for the transportation company employing 1,000 people over the next two years. The new space will complement Bird’s state of the art service center where employees currently deliver industry-leading service and maintenance on the company’s fleet of commercial-grade e-scooters.

Business functions and talent spanning operations, government partnerships, legal, marketing and communications will be based at the new French hub. The building will also become a place for Bird’s riders to come in and learn about how to ride safely and get a free helmet.

Travis VanderZanden, Bird’s Founder and CEO, said:

“When we launched in Paris nearly a year ago we were blown away by how quickly Parisians took to our service. The adoption signaled a need and desire for an alternative to cars. The city really is a global leader in the fight against climate change and we want to help them achieve their goals by committing even further to the city.  Paris already feels like home to us, so it’s only natural that we should make it our official second European home.”

Patrick Studener, Head of Bird in EMEA, said:
“We are hugely excited about today’s announcement. Our riders have embraced Bird in Paris and now we want to give back to the city because we are here for the long term. Paris is a significant market for us and one that demands a service like ours so it makes sense to have key functions and talent based here. We’re also looking forward to having a place that our riders can come and learn more about our mission, how to ride and park safely and meet the team.”

Kat Borlongan, Director La French Tech, said:
“I’m delighted that Bird chose France to open their largest European hub. The French Tech scene is picking up serious speed. It’s great that startups scaling as quickly as Bird understand what France has become: a country where some of the world’s most ambitious tech companies can grow and scale.”
