Proudly Supporting Organizations Who Stand Up for Pride

Those last two words are important because they reinforce the fact that discrimination and exclusion have no place here. That’s why this Pride Month, we’re proud to once again support and help raise awareness of organizations who are standing up for the LGBTQ+ community.

Below are some of the groups we’re working with in 2021, as well as ways in which you can learn more and get involved.

SAVE

Based out of Miami, SAVE is recognized as South Florida’s longest serving organization dedicated to protecting people who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) against discrimination.

Since 1993, SAVE has advocated for equal rights for persons of all sexual orientations and gender identities through political advocacy, community outreach and candidate endorsements.

Their mission is to promote, protect and defend equality for LGBTQ persons in South Florida, building towards a community in which people who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer have full equality in all facets of life.

The Transgender District

Founded by three black trans women in 2017, The Transgender District is the first legally recognized transgender district in the world. The area is home to the city of San Francisco’s first LGBT bar and various community spaces, gathering sites and hotels with cultural significance for the broader transgender and queer community in the Tenderloin.

The mission of The Transgender District is to create an urban environment that fosters the rich history, culture and legacy of transgender people and recognizes their deep roots in San Francisco’s southeastern Tenderloin neighborhood. The district aims to stabilize and economically empower the transgender community through ownership of homes, businesses, historic and cultural sites and safe community spaces.

COGAM

COGAM is an LGBTQ+ collective in the Spanish capital of Madrid that has been working for the equality of LGBTQ+ people for more than 30 years. They helped to found the country’s National Federation of Lesbians, Gays, Transexuals and Bixexuals (FELGTB) and were one of the earliest promoters of equal marriage in Spain.

Every day, COGAM members and volunteers work on numerous projects to advocate for and raise awareness about the diversity of Spain’s LGTBQ+ community. This includes offering rapid HIV testing, speaking about sexual and gender diversity at educational events and providing important information and services to the LGTBQ+ community.
